The concert of the Artistic Group is a result of the song, dance and percussion workshops in which more than 4000 children and adolescents from the most deprived communities of São Paulo take part.
Their repertory integrates the folk music of Brazil and Africa , the world of pop, Afro-Brazilian culture as well as their own compositions.
The percussion bright the songs and choreographies through some of Brazil 's most contagious rhythms, including:maracatu, jongo, funk, samba-enredo, samba-de-roda,maxixe, marcha-rancho, axé, salsa, aguerê, maculelê and many more.
The Meninos do Morumbi Band have already done around 500 performances in Brazil and in Europe ( England and France ) since 1996.
Meninos do Morumbi have performed and recorded CDs with well-know artists of Brazil and Europe including: BBC Symphonic Orchestra, African Sanctus, Cidade Negra, Olodum, Ivete Sangalo, Lulu Santos, Orquestra da TV Cultura, Maestro Nelson Ayres. The group has also taken part of the Windsor Festival and the Liverpool International Street Festival 2004.
Meninos do Morumbi are frequently invited to perform at institutional events. Companies realize the social value of working with a non-governmental association. The costs for a concert are also tax deductible.
