The percussion was the first activity of the Project established in 1996 by Flávio Pimenta, musician, teacher and president of the Association Meninos do Morumbi.
It is a compulsory activity with the option of the dance and singing for all the pupils of the Project.

The aim of the education of percussion is to enable the pupil to play the musical repertoire of the Show Band, developing choreographies and techniques of the instruments used in the band such as: surdo, caixa, timbal, tamborim, tambourine, repenique and others. The learning initiates by the instrument called 1st surdo, and then the 2nd surdo, after that the 3rd surdo, and for the other instruments the pupils could choose freely.

The repertoire of the Show Band reaches more than 20 musical arrangements as jongo, maracatu, funk, samba, maxixe, aguerê, tambor de minas, salsa, maculelê, and many others .

Currently lessons are given by Marquinhos Silva.
